After 2020 being a year of few movie releases and mostly delayed production, 2021 is coming back strong. So mark your calendars as there are some very anticipated movies coming out soon. Here are the top 10 most anticipated movie releases of 2021:
Cherry
A young man (Tom Holland) meets the love of his life and anchor (Ciara Bravo), but through difficult circumstances and poor choices, his life begins to crumble, leading him to a life of crime and drugs. The Russo Brothers work with Holland once again after the completion of the Avengers movies. Drama/Crime.

Black Widow
Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) is trained since birth to become a Russian spy and in her long awaited stand alone movie, we get to see her face her past and the family that came before the Avengers. It is set between the events of Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War. It also stars David Harbour, O-T Fagbenle, and Florence Pugh, who Johansson said she will hand the ‘Black Widow’ baton down to. We love to see the female representation both in the film itself and the production crew. Action/Adventure.

Cruella
Cruella is a live-action Disney film that follows Cruella de Vil (Emma Stone) before she became the infamous villain in 101 Dalmatians. The trailer that was released on Thursday received mixed reviews, but most agree that it will be an interesting watch. Comedy/Crime

The French Dispatch
The new Wes Anderson film follows the people working at an American newspaper in 20th-century France that brings stories published in "The French Dispatch" to life. It stars Timothée Chalamet, Bill Murray, Frances McDormand, Adrien Brody, Owen Wilson, and Tilda Swinton. It’s sure to be filled with colorful and beautiful cinematography like all Wes Anderson films. Romance/Comedy/Drama.

The Education of Fredrick Fitzell
Fredrick Fitzell (Dylan O’Brien), a man struggling to come to terms with adulthood and the responsibilities he now faces, journeys into his past to discover mysteries about a missing girl (Maika Monroe) and a drug called Mercury. Dylan O’Brien often does action films, like Love and Monsters, American Assassin, and the beloved Maze Runner trilogy, so this will be a different kind of film for him. His acting skills can certainly fulfill the complex role, so we all are excited to see this film when it comes out. Drama/Thriller.

The Quiet Place ll
The sequel to the 2018 thriller, the Quiet Place, follows the Abbotts as they continue to fight to survive in a post-apocalyptic world, realizing that the creatures who hunt by sound aren’t the only danger. This film stars John Krasinski and Emily Blunt, on and off screen spouses, along with Noah Jupe, Millicent Simmonds, and Cillian Murphy. Horror/Thriller.

Dune
A remake of the 1984 film, Dune, this film introduces the nomadic tribes that endure a battle in order to control the desert planet, Arrakis. This film stars Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, and Stellan Skarsgård. With Denis Villeneuve, director of Arrival and Blade Runner, directing the film and Hans Zimmer creating the film score, this film should be a success. Sci-fi/Adventure.

Don’t Worry Darling
Alice (Florence Pugh) and Jack (Harry Styles) appear to be your average married couple in the 1950’s until Alice notices strange incidents occurring and begins to suspect her husband is hiding something from her, leading her to question her own sanity. Chris Pine and Gemma Chan also star in the film. Olivia Wilde and Harry Style’s new romance originated on set, although some believe it is promotional stunt for the movie. This is Olivia Wilde’s second movie, following the success of her first film, Booksmart. Many say this is the most anticipated film of the year. Psychological Thriller.

Don’t Look Up
Two astronomers (Jennifer Lawrence and Leonardo DiCaprio) attempt to warn mankind about an asteroid that will destroy planet Earth. This cast is filled with huge stars, starring Cate Blanchett, Meryl Streep, Timothée Chalamet, Ariana Grade, Matthew Perry, Chris Evans, and Jonah Hill. It is being released on Netflix. Production was slightly delayed due to a minor injury on set, but it seems like this movie will come out on time. Disaster Comedy.

West Side Story
An adaptation of the 1961 film, West Side Story, this musical by Steven Spielberg stars Ansel Elgort, Maddie Ziegler, and Ariana DeBose. Remakes of iconic films, like West Side Story, are difficult and often remain in the shadow of the original, but because of Spielberg’s immense success in Hollywood, this remake could be one to remember. Musical/Romance.
