Self care is not selfish
Why we value self care…
As teenage girls, it is important to maintain good mental and physical health, and self care is the perfect way to do this! Rejuvenating and recharging after a long week, or long day, can be the best medicine. No matter what challenges come across the way, prioritizing yourself is the key to good health and a happy life. Here are forms of self care we “heart”:
Spa day
Face masks? Yes. Hot baths and bath bombs? Also a yes. Have an at-home spa day! We couldn’t recommend this more. Every Sunday before another week starts we love taking time to ourselves, to bring out our best selves! So, paint your nails, put on that face mask, and have a bubble bath! Need some help getting started? Check out this Spa day at home guide. Our favorite sheet masks are from the Sephora collection, however you can also make your own! Check out a few face mask recipes we recommend here! It’s important to take time to recharge and replenish yourself, self care is not selfish ;)!
Eat your favorite food
Eat spaghetti to forget your regretie! Literally! Comfort food is a must during self care. Get take out, cook for yourself, or go out to your favorite restaurant… it is important to treat yourself and fuel your body <3
Our comfort foods:
Hot spicy ramen
Tomato soup and grilled cheese
Spaghetti and meatballs
Yoga
Yoga is an excellent form of self care! Not only are you getting physically active, but you are connecting your mind, body, and soul. Feel free to read about all of yoga’s benefits on Yoga Bliss. Finding an open yoga studio can be tricky during the pandemic, however there are hundreds of wonderful videos on YouTube you can use as a class. Our favorite channel for yoga classes is Boho Beautiful. Just 10 minutes after a long day of school can help you relax, wind down, and practice self care.
Journal
Got a lot on your mind? Write it out. Journaling is so therapeutic and such a great way of getting rid of stress. We have several journals, all for different things, where we try to write and reflect in daily. You can find loads of inspiration for journal prompts and page ideas on Pinterest, and we plan on doing a post in the near future dedicated to journaling. Also feel free to check out Mia’s journaling board on Pinterest. When in doubt, write it out :)
Do what makes you happy
Whether it is painting, reading your favorite book, or just relaxing and binging Netflix, doing whatever makes you happy is so good for the soul. Taking time out of your day to do something for you is so important. Raising your vibration through doing what you love is such a great and easy form of self care. For us, having this blog as a creative outlet makes us happy :)
